Spring Break, Day 5!....NY Aquarium

Hurray!  I was feeling rather tired of all the excitment I (we) have had this week.  But we had a rather nice surprise!  Christian took the day off and we headed to Coney Island's New York Aquarium.  It was WONDERFUL having him "tag" along!

Spring Break, Day four...Picnic at the Park

Today we laid low- we packed a nice lunch took a little stroll to Brookdale park.  Nothing to exciting, the kids played while I sat there being lazy!
Thats our house on the right - well the side of it.
Having a picnic with white trash cheetoes!

This is Ellie's "Secret Garden" her favorite place at the park.

Spring Break, Day Three...The Jersey Shore

84 degrees, perfect day to head to the shores!  The Jersey Shores are roughly 45 min. from our home - so not to bad of a trip, we went with the Thatchers and spent most of the afternoon there.  We had a GREAT time!

Spring Break, Day Two...The Zoo

Being Earth Day and all, we decided to spend the day at the Staten Island Zoo with our BFF's, the Thatchers.  It was a small, nice clean zoo.  We had a nice time.  We came home, Madeline mowed the front lawn and I did some planting.  Nice day.

Manicure & pedicures.  We had to start the week off right!  before our nails, we went out to lunch.  Then the zoo, but couldn't find a parking spot, so off to Rita's for ice-cream then home we went.

Ending with sleepovers!

Cherry Blossom continued...

We went to the Blossom Festival at Branch Brook Park, http://newark1.com/branchbrook/ it was the last day, so most of the trees were sad - on there last leg, parking was a pain and the weather wasn't helpful, as Madeline said the clouds were "stratus clouds". Besides all that, I think we had a really nice time.  Next year
I'll make sure to go at the peak!

Croquet

We had beautiful weather today - mid 80's!  The girls decided to play croquet in the front yard while I made dinner.  I had to come out and take some pictures.  Too cute!

Scottish Wife!

So, I have some Scottish in me, I definitely can relate to her feistiness!  Although Christian would never deserve this!
Enjoy!

White Trash, & Proud of it!?

Astro Turf!
NO more WHITE TRASH!  I love what my brother Karl said about the Brady Bunch!  I can see it now.. sweeping my back yard, just like Jan.  Now thats something to be proud of!!
Because of our lack of a nice (or any at all) community pool (like the Sierra).  We have one of those huge 3000 gallon water ones that we put up in the summer.  This has completely ruined our yard for the Spring, Fall, & Winter seasons, so my brilliant conclusion... Astr0 Turf!
Although it may look tacky, no weeding, no mowing, no mud! & you can have a picnic with out the bugs!  So far, so happy!  Life is good being "White Trash!"  All we need is some plastic flamingos (thanks for the idea Julie!!)

Totally 80's!

I thought I was cool!?
I found this Totally 80's Trivial Pursuit last month and I thought I was all 80's - I wore the leg warmers, jelly bracelets - and shoes, listened to Cindy Lauper and was a total Madonna want-a- be.  In the game I hardly new any questions - maybe just a few, one being about Steven King, Oh! and one about the Smurfs.  I suck!  Maybe I'm NOT an 80's girl.  I was only 10 in '87 so technical I grew up in the 90's.  I will not accept that I am a 90's girl, 80's is SO much more radicle!  Don't you think? Can I say I am 8o's?  How does that work?  Or is it the year you were born?
So, the game pieces are; one is a CareBear, there is a trapper keeper (SO COOL!), one of those BIG-A. old computers and a record - but it looks like a CD - when did CD's come out - I thought early 90's? Maybe it's the music on it - "Temperamental Heaven? -"Skinny Tiez"anyone know that?  GIRLS JUST WANNA HAVE FUN!

Green Gloves.

So, some were wondering if I was wearing a cast.  No, cute story, worth sharing.  I think the letter will explain it all; It was actually Kristina's mom who made them, and apparently she did for the whole 2 grade!  I though Madeline's letter was so thoughtful. Moments like these make it all worth being a mom - despite those moments when you just don't know how you can carry on!

Home Invasion!!!

I was telling my friend Ben about my day today, after taking the kids to school I walked to my chiropractor for some neck alignment, when I got home I found that I had locked myself out.  No keys on my person.  I have done this before, well lots of times before, sometimes I get lucky with the car unlocked and a key in there or I'll have my purse on me with another key, not today.  luckily the sliding door if you shack it comes unlocked - BUT, we keep a piece of wood there so it can only open to exactly 6 1/2'' (Christian had to measure).  I've had to Jimmy myself in once before, but this time was MUCH harder - I hate to blame it on weight, but what other excuse do I have?  Maybe my "upper pillows" have filled in?.  Unfortunately, it was my lower half that was giving me the "biggest" problem.  I got stuck right on my pelvis, I swore it was gonna crack - finally after enough pushing I popped out!  Anyway, back to Ben, he thought it would be fun for me to reenact it for posterity's sake.  Just kidding - he just thought it would be fun to add to the blog - So here's a still reenactment for your viewing pleasure.... Thanks for the picture, Christian!  I guess I'll be back to the chiropractor tomorrow!  Oh! and don't mind that messy pile behind me - putting away Easter Crap.

Daddy & Girls

The girls love story time & especially wrestling with there daddy!  I am really bummed because Christian has to go to a NAB (I am sure I got the initial wrong, he (daddy) continues to correct me, but me and my dyslexia - I may continue to get it wrong!  (Hopefully not this time).  Anyway, he will be leaving me for a good 5 days and what stinks is the week after he gets back, the girls have there Spring Break!  I just wish they were off - when he was gone, so the girl's and I could take a road trip somewhere!!  Maybe OH., or VA..  It's just easier to go somewhere when her is gone.  Especially when I can have cousins help entertain the wee ones.
Any suggestions??
